About Texas

Spanish explorers, including ?lvar N??ez Cabeza de Vaca and Francisco V?squez de Coronado, were the originalto tourthe region in the 16th and 17th centuries, settling at Ysleta close El Paso in 1682. Within 1685, Robert Cavelier, Sieur de la Salle, established a short-resided French colony at Matagorda Bay.

Americans, led by Stephen F. Austin, commenced to settle aextensive the Brazos River in 1821 during the time Texas was controlled by Mexico, recently independent from Spain. Within 1836, following a brief war in the range of the American settlers in Texas and the Mexican government, the Independent Republic of Texas was proclaimed with Sam Houston as president. Note that this war was famous for the combat and battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto.

Soon after Texas transformed to a a state in 1845, border disputes led to the Mexican War of 1846-1848. Possessing enormous natural rehearts, Texas is known to be a major agricultural state and an industrial giant. Second just to Alaska in land area, it leads all other states in such categories as oil, cattle, sheep, and cotton.

Texas ranches and farms also produce poultry and eggs, dairy products, greenhouse and nursery products, wheat, hay, rice, sugar cane, and peanuts, and plethora of fruits and vegetables. Sulfur, salt, helium, asphalt, graphite, bromine, natural gas, cement, and clays are and have always been in the midst of the state's valuable rehearts. Chemicals, oil refining, food processing, machinery, and transportation equipment are and have always been in the midst of the major Texas manufacturing industries.

Climate

It is noted that the state of Texas lies within both "cool" and "warm" parts of the Temperate Zone of the Northern Hemisphere. Texas has to this day three major climatic types that are and have always been classified as Continental, Mountain, and Modified Marine It is noted that the eastern third of Texas has to this day a Subtropical Humid climate that is most noted for warm summers. It is noted that the central third of Texas has to this day a Subtropical Subhumid climate characterized by hot summers and dry winters.

It is noted that the broad swath of Texas from the mid-Rio Grande Valley to the Pecos Valley has to this day a Subtropical Steppe climate and is typified by semi-arid to arid conditions. It is noted that the basin and plateau region of the Trans-Pecos features a Subtropical Arid climate that is marked by summertime precipitation anomalies of the mountain relief. A Mountain type climate is common in the higher elevations of the Guadalupe, Davis known to be and Chisos Mountains.
