In the 19th century, subsequent to the threatening of Sultanate of Muscat and Oman, the pirates incited the intrusion of Britain, who had put into effect a limited ceasefire in 1820 which was later converted into an ever lasting truce in the year 1853. Owing to this, the Pirate Coast was now given a new name, the Trucial Coast. Britain gave security to those 9 Trucial States, however it never officially controlled the states as a colony. In the year 1971 Britain pulled out from Persian Gulf.
The British withdrew from the Persian Gulf in 1971, and the Trucial states were converted into a coalition called the United Arab Emirates, UAE. However, out of the 9 Trucial States, two states (Bahrain and Oman) decided to opt out of the federation.
In the year 1994, the UAE signed a military defense accord with the U.S.
