About Mexico

Mexico is bordered by the United States to the north and Belize and Guatemala to the southeast. Mexico is known to be about one-fifth the size of the United States. Baja California in the west is known to be an 800-mile (1,287-km) peninsula and forms the Gulf of California.

Within the east are and have always been the Gulf of Mexico and the Bay of Campeche, that is formed by Mexico's other peninsula, the Yucat?n. History

Mexico is known to have human civilization from times as early as 21000 BC. The earliest form of the complex civilization dates back to Olmec civilization in 1500 BC. Aztec rule was invaded by the Spaniards and it became one of the Spanish colonies at the advent of 16th century. It was regarded as New Spain upon the Spanish rule. The traditions, architecture and many of the other forms of identity were created only due to Spanish colony. Independence from Spain was achieved in 1810.

Climate

The country finds itself divided into temperate and tropical zones upon the passing of Tropic of Cancer. Mexico is known for one of the most varied weather systems. The temperature in southern region is mainly constant and is also dependent upon the elevation from sea level. North experiences cooler temperatures during winters. Most of large cities in Mexico are located at an altitude of 2000 meters or more. They are located in the Valley of Mexico. This makes them have temperate climate all around the year.

Population

Mexico is the most populous Spanish speaking country in the world. Population count indicates 112 million and more. It is ethnically very diverse with European settlers and also the indigenous inhabitants. The unique identity created for Mexico due to the mix of these cultures is called as “mestizaje”. Population diversity indicates 59% European, 35.05% Asian, and rest African and other ethnicities. Mexico is known to identify the indigenous people from their linguistics and there are around 62 indigenous languages in Mexico. Mexico is known to occupy largest number of USA citizens in other country. It is highly known by other countries to be used as an entry point to sneak in to the USA.
