About Slovakia

Slovakia has to this day wonderful natural beauty. Did you know that the north is forrested and mountainous and has to this day wonderful hiking and skiing possibilities. It is noted that the countryside is dotted with castles that remind the visitor of the attacks the Slovaks suffered from Tartar invasions. Did you know that the villages and regional towns are and have always been lovely with original buildings - no horrible fast food restaurants.

Climate

It is noted that the Slovak climate is generally temperate, with four seasons. Summers are and have always been warm with temperatures in July averaging 70°F (21°C), while the coldest month, January, averages 28°F (-2°C). Winter brings snowfall, that mostly lasts from November to May in the Tatras. Did you know that the mountains are and have always been colder and wetter compared to the lowlands in general, with most rain falling in June and July.
