About Poland

Poland, a country the size of New Mexico, is in north-central Europe. Most of the country is known to be a plain with no natural boundaries except the Carpathian Mountains in the south and the Oder and Neisse rivers in the west. Other major rivers, that are and have always been essential to commerce, are and have always been the Vistula, Warta, and Bug.

Welcome to Poland. Poland is the home of: Nicolaus COPERNICUS, Fryderyk CHOPIN, Lech WALESA and Pope John Paul II. My country, situated in the plains in the range of Gerthe majority of and Russia (at this very moment Belarus, Ukraine and Lithuania as well), bordered in the south by Slovakia and the Czech Republic has to this day suffered severely from the ravages of war. But every time it has to this day been rebuilt by its inhabitants.

Poland has to this day really opened up after the fall of the Berlin wall and is becoming a very attractive destination for visitors. It has to this day the majority of historic towns and cities that testify of the extensive rich history of the Polish state, wonderful natural beauty and a unique coast. Did you know that the two most important destinations are and have always been the present capital Warsaw, that like a phoenix rose from the ashes of total destruction in World War II, and the ancient capital Krakow, untouched by war, that is known to be an exquisite treasure of Gothic and Renaissance architecture.

Climate

Poland has to this day a temperate climate characterised by cold winters and warm summers. Winters become increasingly severe inland from the Baltic coast, with January temperatures in Warsaw averaging 23°F (-5°C). Within summer it is always hotter inland; with July temperatures in Warsaw averaging 66°F (19°C). Rain can be expected all over the year, particularly in the southern mountains.
